Adrian Li

Work-learn student

Adrian is a 4th year UBC student studying chemistry and life science. Through his coursework, he has gained a better understanding of the fundamental reactions and processes occurring that affect the growth and resilience of organisms.

From his co-op experiences, he has gained skills ranging from protein extractions to electron microscopy. At Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, he worked in a Food Science lab conducting chemical characterizations and sequential extractions and carrying out protein quantification and enzyme activity assays on plant samples. Additionally, he also has experience preparing and imaging samples with both the SEM and TEM on apple and leaf samples.

He joined the BIF as a work-learn student in September 2018 and is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the lab to ensure BIF users have a quality work environment. He is currently helping complete a TEM project through microtome sectioning, staining and TEM imaging.
